Global Fest 2005 International Fireworks CompetitionThe following shots were taken the last night of the International Fireworks Competition held at Elliston Park in southeast Calgary. There is a large pond that everyone could sit around to watch the fireworks, and this made for some excellent reflective shots off the water. Hong Kong, Italy, the United Kingdom and Spain all competed, with Spain eventually winning. |

Calgary Stampede FireworksEvery year in July Calgary hosts the great outdoor show on earth, the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede. At the close of each evening there is a fireworks display that is always pretty good. One particular year there was an excellent sky in the background due to forest fires west of Calgary. At the same time, there was the Canada Day celebration going on, so the flame was lit on the top of the Calgary Tower. It made for some really great shots. |

Calgary Stampede Fireworks 2009Once again the Calgary Stampede had another great show this year. Transalta hosted the fireworks which turned out to be pretty good. There was a delay from when they started on Friday night, due to someone leaving the Stampede being struck by a C-train. They were not killed fortunately. Finally after waiting an additional 20 minutes I began to wonder if they were going to have any more firing or not. Just as I was debating on leaving I saw the first of the fireworks go up again so I was very lucky to get these shots. |
