BanffBanff National Park is the closest mountain national park to Calgary. There is so much to see in this park it cannot all be covered by one simple gallery. Must see locations in the park include Banff, the Minnewanka Loop, Mount Norquay, Sunshine Mountain, highway 1A between Banff and Lake Louise, Johnson Canyon, Castle Junction, Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. These are the most popular destinations and are among my favorite places to see. Going up the Icefield Parkway there is also Herbert and Hector Lake, Bow Lake and Glacier, Peyto Lake, and the Mistaya Canyon near Saskatchewan Crossing. To put it simply, there is more spectacular scenery to view than you can imagine! The scenery changes dramatically with the seasons too, so virtually any time of year the park can be spectacular. |

Glacier National ParkGlacier National Park in Montana is a sister park to Waterton National Park in Alberta. If you visit one, take the time to visit the other as well. Both are incredibly beautiful. Glacier is the home of the Going-to-the-Sun Road, one of the most spectacular drives in the continental U.S.A. It is an inverted V-shaped road, starting at Saint Mary in the east, rising past Saint Mary Lake to Logan Pass, then winding down the Garden Wall to Lake McDonald, ending at the Apgar Information Center. This road is approximately 52 miles in length and is tight and twisty, a great motorcycle road. There are fantastic views, wildlife, waterfalls and lakes all along this road. Other great destinations abound in the park as well, so after you have driven Going-to-the-Sun Road, check them out. You will not be disappointed! |
