Brown Beans 14 oz. Libby’s Deep Brown Beans 1 Small onion, chopped 1-2 cloves Garlic OR 1/8 tsp. Garlic powder 2 Tbs. Barbeque sauce 1 Tbs. Yellow mustard 2 Tbs. Brown sugar ½ tsp. HP sauce 1-2 dash Worcestershire sauce 2 tsp. Oil 6 strips thick cut side bacon, chopped course and cooked well done but not crisp If desired, brown the onion and garlic in the oil, after heating at medium temperature, for one or two minutes. Alternately, use the grease from the cooked bacon to brown the onion and garlic if you include the bacon in this dish. Add all remaining ingredients, folding in to not break down the beans, but rather to marry the flavors together. Simmer on low heat for 20 – 40 minutes, stirring frequently as the sugar will stick to the bottom of the pan. If time permits, remove from heat and let stand for another hour or so to allow the flavors to really incorporate, then, if necessary, gently bring back to temperature before serving. Suggestion – great with ribs or BBQ chicken, pork chops or steaks Ken
